temp sender wire?

On the '76 1ton GMC I just got(454,th400) the temp sender wire looks like a resistance wire.(VERY small gage with the cloth covering) Does this sound right? Thanks

Re: temp sender wire?

should be dark green as almost all years were. the cover may be the heat resistant covering. that's all. as faras I remember the the sender itself is the resistor. I JUST installed a 76-77 sender in my truck with a standard wire and it is showing correct temp. crossy

Re: temp sender wire?

Thank You. That is what I thought. I am going to replace it with the right color wire.
