Window weather stripping installation tips

Do you have any? I got some in today, and to be honest with you. For 60 bucks it's a great deal and it makes your doors look 10X better. I only got one door done today, as it was a lot of trial and error being I've no experience with such a thing. Any tips you've used to have a great outcome?

My drivers side was kinda trial and error but my passenger side looks ten times better and went together ten times better. theres just lil things that you will learn from doin one side then doin the other. its been a while since i did it though

Just line 'em up before you clip them down. I've found the aftermarket ones have the clips too close to the trim to be installed, so the last set I installed I used a small screwdriver to push the clips away from the weatherstripping and they install a little easier.

This is just my humble opinion but I learned a long time ago that the best weatherstripping glue is "3M Automotive Weatherstripping Adhesive". I know some members will post messages saying that they used Permatex or some other brand and it worked, but the 3M product seems to hold better and longer. It's available in yellow or black plus it's a little more expensive that the Permatex product. Napa carries it.

X2 have used 3M and it works very well. Also, use a wooden paint paddle to work the weatherstripping into any crevices.

If you want to to use the yellow or black snot from 3m it does work:lol: However by far the best we have found is from Motorcraft. Dries quick and no need to tape it to get it to stay. Just gotta get it right the first time. I know you will have to go to a dealer to get it.:smoke:

The stuff LMC sells along side their weather stripping seems to be garabage..spend more time trying to get it off my fingers over doing what it's suppose to...hold the weatherstripping in place

Are we talking about the door rubber or the window seals?

Sorry the window seals. The ones that LMC sent seem to have a little too much play in between the clips..so I've tried to glue them down and they don't stick

LMC's window scrapers suck, fell apart after 1 summer. Got some from Wes at Classic Heartbeat, much happier.
