Full restoration requirements?
I am wondering what parts of the truck need to be original for it to be considered a good restoration. I.E. parts that need to match the id numbers and such. Does it affect the value if you have to replace a rusted door or buy a new wiper motor (just examples) My current project is a 69 chevy C-10 with a 350 4 bolt main and a turbo 400 tranny. Going with a frame off restor. Need some help with what I should keep and what I can replace without damaging the trucks value

To fully restore a 67-72 you better have end less bank account.Do it the way you want,some guys go to far then some not enough.I was at a show Sunday looked at a sharp yellow 71 loaded,but inside he didn't replace the dash bezel yet.I hope he does if not it takes away.So I'd do the details and still have a good lookin' truck.My two cents.

I'm no pro. But I'm guessing you would wan't to keep the original motor, transmission, rearend, seat, steering wheel, radio etc. I wouldn't think it would matter if you put on a new fender or somthing. There were not numbers on that stuff.

Im into haveing the most "custom" things done. I would just do whatever you like to your truck and not worry about keeping it original unless thats what you prefer.

Date coded air for the tires adn date coded gear oil is a b!tch to find.
I agree that the main components need to be original. Engine, tranny Transfer (if aplicable) and rear end are all pretty important. As far as body panels, I think the deivers side door is pretty important if it still has the factory stickers on it. The door should have a sticker showing the birth month of your rig. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. Thanks for the help...good news! I just found the original paperwork that came with the truck with all the factory codes and stuff. It's in bad shape but it will be useful when I get knee deep in this restor. By the way this is the best message board I've seen in a while...what dedicated owners!!!
