64 2 door burb. Parts?
Hi guys, first off, i am a 67-72 guy but i like them all. Here is my questions: i found a 64 2 door gmc that is going to the crusher rather quickly. It is quite rusty but looks to have some good parts yet. GMC v-6 with a 2 speed auto, york A/C, power brakes, and power steering. The rig is very complete with a clam shell door on the back. I should have brought my camera...If i were to buy some of these parts, what is the demand and value of them? And what else should i grab? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, Eric

Re: 64 2 door burb. Parts?
the latches for the sliding rear windows if it has 'em, and the arms that keeps the rear hatch open, if they are not broken.
ths are probably the most valuable parts from a sub the turn signal lights from the hood, and the rear taillights and housings if they are good. big items: if you have the room to store them, these are desireable, but expensive to ship... front seats-should be a split style bench to allow access to the rear seat. the rear seat. the rear hatch and gate and all the mounting hardware.the rear bumper - all this is suburban only. pics would help tell a better story. |

GMC air conditioning unit would be an asset to someone.

Re: 64 2 door burb. Parts?
I will try to get some pics and maybe grab a few parts off it. It does have a split front seat. It is like a small bucket seat on the pass side. It does have sliding windows in the back. No rear seat. The parts that hold the rear gate up are bent...

Re: 64 2 door burb. Parts?
If there is some demand i will try to go back and pull some parts off it. If that happens i will start a for sale thread. Right now i just need to know if it is worth my time to even mess with it. Eric

Re: 64 2 door burb. Parts?
I agree with what everybody has said above..............Burb parts are really difficult to find and if you can save some from the crusher I don't think you'll have a difficult time getting rid of them, as long as you can get them at a reasonable price...............Hemmit

Re: 64 2 door burb. Parts?
When you snag the power steering, make sure you get the center link, ram, and the bracket that mounts opposite the steering gearbox, as well as the gearbox itself. Also get the brackets and pulleys! If it's a custom cab, get the moldings. 4 way flasher, mounts in the dash, will have a GMC knob. GMC glovebox door is unique to GMC. Check the brake pedal to see if it says "Power Brake". I found one on a 1 ton in excellent shape, only one I've seen, and it's now on my 64 Suburban. Wiring harnesses, if the ends are good-no one repops them.
