Project "Arizona-San Jose Style" 64 VERT...Rust BOMB !!

THE SAGA BEGINS: (Back home in San Jo)

Met up with Tony a while back at a show (haven't seen him in years...customer/buddy from way back in the 90's)...ask me to check out his '64.

He wanted some patch work...I told him, this thing is pretty bad, so a full sand-blast was in order.....

After removing the doors and stripping the firewall area, I built these quick door openning braces to reinforce the body before removing from chassis:

Some cuts had to be made to remove the body...this thing is pretty bad...but repairable...

Upon arrival at the Blaster, they carefully helped us out with their long forks:

I wouldn't call that a rust bomb around here. They would be a good body with a few rust issues. I have a 64 chevelle that needs quarters, trunk floor and floor boards. That is a rust bucket. Keep us updated.

That car will be really worth it when done are you restoring it or just fixing the rust and sending it back

Re: Project "Arizona-San Jose Style" 64 VERT...Rust BOMB !!

Well the guy is building an outrageous Lowrider out it it (yeah, one of those:lol:)

So basically, I'm going to repair ALL the rust issues....after all the rust is taking care of, he wants me to plate the entire underside (original plan) for a place for artwork (??)

Cool project!

Do you have a dipper near by? or was it to pricey to dip? It would have stripped everything!

Keep us posted.

John-I am glad that you are going to fix the rust issue instead of just patching it up. Old convertibles like this one are nice cruisers!!

Yup, she haas some good air conditioning going on there, i hate working on cars like that, but on the other side they are a challenge, and the end result is usually great. I am doing a 68 camaro for another guy and his needs almost an entire inner structure also. gonna hate doing that one.
