Burb SPID???
2 Attachment(s)
Went to look at a burb this weekend....Pretty well optioned burb....got a couple questions about the SPID....what is a "L78-15-8 Highway BB"?
Is the "Special Promotional" the highlander package?? What is included in that package?? Also, what are these "Super lift rear shocks"...are they air ride rear shocks? They had a wire connected to them....Does that rear coil look heated?...i couldn't tell..... Another question that came up was, why did GM badge trucks/ burbs with 400 even though some were 396 and others were 402's??? Thanks |

Re: Burb SPID???
the springs look a little worn, but not heated. the center coils are supposed to be almost on top of each other.
Super lift shocks are air shocks, not the bes idea in reality, can very easily rip the shock mounts with them if you air up and carry much or a load. L78-15-8 Highway BB is an optional tire. Engine badging... the 396 was always called and badges as a 396. In 70, the 396 was discontinued, and the 402 took over. Many theorys as to why, the one I tend to believe was the fact that the brass at GM didn't want the biggest small block to be bigger than a big block. Since the 400 small block came out in 1970, they increased the bore of the big block a tick. In performance cars, they kept the 396 badging since it had earned a good rep in performance circles, even though it was actually a 402. Now... why they called it a 400 in trucks and some cars... I have yet to hear any good reasons at all. That is a very good looking wagon there, looks like what mine looked like when it was new. |

Re: Burb SPID???
That burb was a total POS. Rode like crap too. Engine sounded horrible. Body was full of bondo and rust...
 It was actually the cleanest/most original/rust free burb I've ever seen! It really needs to be seen in person to be appreciated, and the highlander interior was immaculate and tear free! And the seats were still comfy and the ride was really nice. Almost ZERO rust. NO repair panels could be found anywhere, except maybe the front PS fender cup. The top rear hatch would need a little metal work, it did have some bubbles, but super nice burb. You cut the check yet? |
Re: Burb SPID???

|
Re: Burb SPID???
