Had my friend Ed haul it with his 67. We pulled the RR drum so it would roll off the truck but other than that it went smooth.
Took a brush to it and took off the huge mirrors here are some pics.

I like Ed's truck too. Single rear wheels and it doesn't look to be straining at all.

Thanks for the replies! Its not as good as it seems ? IMO
It has some pretty rough spots, the roof has a big ugly dent that might be beyond my skill level.
Underneath looks pretty good. My biggest worry is the rear fenders.
One thing at a time, start, stop, steer get those done first. Then I'll dig in on smoothing it out. For now I want to get it in good enough shape to drive to
"traditional" shows as well as truck shows more or less as is.
Needs windshields and 1 side glass. I like the idea of leaving it a six but maybe find a newer six 250 ? 292 ? Maybe a 302 GMC
Its on the back burner for any big work.
as for the rear seat? Its a bed I have yet to mess with it but I think it folds out somehow. Previous owners used it camping.
I'll post some of the ugly spots soon.

If the panels rockin, don't bother knockin! LOL That is cleaning up pretty good. Big roof dents aren't that big of a deal, secret is to figure out where the tension points are, push it back it to place and use "adjustment" tools to release the edge tension. Old time guy I learned from said to figure out what caused the dent, bend, crinkle, etc. and reverse it one step at a time. My project at the time was a VW van with a dent in the roof. Took a folded blanket up against the bottom,then a piece of 1x8, then a 2x4 between the 1x8 and floor to push it up in to place. Then moved around the perimeter of the buckled edge with a doll underneath and body hammer above (two man job) releasing the tension in the metal. Took a couple of tries but eventually it relaxed and popped up into place.

Ran the #'s last night it seems someone installed a 54 235 Chevy car engine.
Lots of stuff on the net about these. Nice to see.

Phase 1) Get brakes working (safety 1st)
Phase 2) Get engine running (should go quick) it ran recently from what I've been told and I see no reason not to believe that by the looks of the newer
battery, wires and cap etc.
Phase 3) Seal it up, replace broken glass and rotted seals, some rust repair
at the same time(only whats needed to seal up)
Phase 4) Tires/wheels I have some factory alloys off a 90's Chevy truck
15x7? 8? thinking I'd install those covered by Moon disc. That way I can keep the 6 lug for now till I decide "The Master Plan" :lol:

Brought home a 9" Ford rear tonight. Its from a 69 F100 so it not a real strong one but thats o.k. Its actually and 8.75" and has the 28 splines.
3.50 gears no ltd slip. Not sure what options I have to beef it up.
Really wont need to if I keep the 235. Which I will if its a good runner.
I figure if nothing else its good enough to start with for 50$ needs wheel cylinders but not much else. So I can lose that torque tube now. :metal:

I tore into the old beast tonight and found out it will turn over by hand.:metal:
I also took off the fuel pump and will be replacing it with a newer style one.
The owners son told me the pump was bad. Cheap insurance either way.
I just want to be able to drive it around the yard for now. Next install LH window glass to keep out the elements and neighbor cats.

Hey its all new to me also. What is going on there is a built in filter, and a vaccum pump. Thats how the wipers worked back in the day.
Going with electic wipers which will allow me to use a "standard" pump.


Yep plan on driving in the rain. Washington state :lol:

I think the "old" style pump would work just fine, I have heard the wipers are just o.k. with the vacuum pump. I got a standard style pump, no filter, no vac. for less than half.
So since I want "better" wiper performance and I am "on the cheap".
I went with the standard.

Oh and in that pump picture one of the lines is the vac. adv. line . It'll go back on of course.
