Prices for cupping lca

Re: Prices for cupping lca
i did mine on my 72 long wheel base and i feel it is the best way to go. it is not going to be cheap. it is not hard but is time consuming on the first run. i have done three sets now and saved the templates so it made it easier on the latter. you could probably buy a set of strong arms for what someone is going to charge for the modification

Re: Prices for cupping lca
The strong arms are about $1200.....
Do you have any of the materials? I maybe able to help.. |
Re: Prices for cupping lca
all i got is the cups lol what material would you need? i have my little doodoo welder but i know its strong enough to weld these, its one from harbor freight that i have been using on my sheetmetal. dont have a torch either to cut the hole out...
XXL - i posted this from my phone so thats why i didnt check for prices...and the second time i asked for prices, i meant prices to cup the lca... :) i did get a damn good quote from frizzle about a month or 2 ago, but the shipping would almost kill it. |
Re: Prices for cupping lca
You need 8 inch round pipe to make the cup and have clearance for the bags...
Check out Spray Bomb's thread on how to with pictures (from the FAQ) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=356469 |
Re: Prices for cupping lca
are they bigger than the sd lower cups they send?
|
Re: Prices for cupping lca
He will only need the lower arms. Check with sd or porterbuilt. I know I said strong arms, but I met any tubular arm, art Is the most money.

Re: Prices for cupping lca
459 for tubular lowers with ball joints and the correct cross shafts from Performance online (an advertiser on here) http://www.performanceonline.com/sto...cat=788&page=1

Re: Prices for cupping lca
yall are crazy.. nfamus air suspension in mansfield texas does them for way cheaper than what new tubular arms cost.. also any decent fabricator can fab up a set in no timeall it is, is a 8.5" piece of pipe centeres where the bag was riginally going to go, with a piece of 1/4" flat plate underneath it with a hole drilled in the center....

Re: Prices for cupping lca
And I am all for fabbing things and saving money....We fabbed up a custom trailing arm crossmember with 5" round pipe heated and bent into ovals and I have about $60 including labor in that piece which sells for $200-300 plus shipping new...

Re: Prices for cupping lca
anybody that daily's their ride won't have to rebuild all of those parts considering they should be replaced when doing maintainence on their vehicle regularly... im not arguing with anybody but you can get all that stuff way cheaper than 50 bux for like 5" of 8.5" pipe.. scrap yards are your friend take a welder maybe 5-6 min total per side to weld it in .... its a easy process... ill be buying tubular arms only beacuse on my dually im ruunning 3/4 ton rotors calipers etc.. dually arms are too short and 3/4 are too long so i have to get mine custom made right in the middle so that i can turn while laid out on 24's

Re: Prices for cupping lca
** Rant ** sorry, but come on...
Sorta funny how we kick this "stuff" around until someone sees the potential to make money and starts do'in it. I'll be the first in line to ship off my lca's to someone that can / will install the 8.5 cups... I'd figure someone made a template / jig for the lca's to sit in... - cut a big freaking hole with their plasma cutter and dropped in the pretty new cups for about a 100 bones for the pair. I'd love a hand-built chassis, drop member, z'd out frame, or simple and effective tubular's but damn they're expensive! HELLO Faber's... if you set your sights on volume and not just to make your profits on selling the first dozen, there are 100's if not 1000's of us that would love to spend our money on your fine products. We've got entire trucks we want to build - but don't want (...off the wall / shelf example) to spend more for lca's and seat cushion foam - than the truck cost! I know :waah::waah::waah: FYI - I didn't see any costs on NFAMUS's site, so I sent Keith a note - maybe he's our savior on this one! Next - onto the foam guys!!! Lovingly - Swany! |
Re: Prices for cupping lca
Kev2809- I have a set of these 8" pipe cups sitting in my garage here in Austin
8" inner diameter 1/4" wall, 3/16" bottom plate welded in, 1 3/4" inside depth. All you need is to cut a hole and have someone weld them in. Probably get you down 2 inches more than cups inside the stock hole. |
Re: Prices for cupping lca
yeah keith doesn't have alot on his site yet... he just started selling his notches and shock relocators that he uses on all the trucks he builds be he will have more stuff soon trust me

this is the deal I went to a local new steel dealer they cut 2 pieces of 8" pipe 2 3/4" (this is the max you can go and will allow the lca to lay flat to the X memeber and you will not have scrubline issues) and piece of flat stock 8" around.......I was out the door for $25 with all my parts cut and from new stock.... I hit my buddy up and he cut the 2 LCA and welded in the pipe and flat stock...I was out of his shop sitting on the tailgate beer in hand in less than an hour I took the LCA home mounted a new set of Monroe 5752 ( I think that was the # ) from a 50 chysler added a 1/8" shim the the UCA to adjust the camber and have a few thousand miles on it now tires run flat and even @ 55/60 psi in the bags and the drop is perfect...you also need to trim your sway bar about 3/8" so it doesn't get pinched between the LCA and X memeber I hope this helps you out if you have any other ?? ask me I just did it and run it everyday Jeff |
Re: Prices for cupping lca
Oh by the way if you have wheel wells say good bye to them and you can only run a 29 1/2" tire ( 235/75/15 )after that you will have to do something about the inner fender support an then the heater box
Boomer just for laughs figure out what it cost to shp your lca to me (03788) not saying I can do them for $100 but it would be intresting to see I bet I could get my buddy to weld up one or 2 sets a week if there was any intrest and worth his while ( I miss behaved and got slapped on the wrist if this is not ok with form rules then Just let me know or delete it and let me know so I can avoid it again) |
Re: Prices for cupping lca
i wish i could try this myself because i hate paying for labor lol. well, i dont want to exactly say how much a fellow member is charging me just in case hes cutting me a deal and might not want to charge everyone for that price lol..but hes well below the price of tubular lca's....WELL below that price. im not knockin on anyone buying the art control arms or any brand for that matter, but its just simply out of my budget. on a side note, would you get the same drop as a drop member if i do cup the lca's, run drop spindles, and z the frame? or will it even be close...?
|
Re: Prices for cupping lca
Kev with a 2" drop spindle you can lay X but then again your going to have inner fender issues so you would have to use a wheel with alot of back spacing..that being said I'm working on trying some late model rally wheels they have a ton of backspacing I'm sure someone else hads tried it but I havn't seen the results and I have a rim in the back of my truck to try so...until then I have to hold off....right now my Xmemeber is about 1 1/2" off the ground and I'm dragging the header anyway so I would need to reroute my exhaust above trans cross member to gain clearance

Re: Prices for cupping lca
I have done a couple sets of arms. Be sure you know the MAX diameter of the bag that you are using to make sure it will not rub. I use 8.5 inner diameter pipe. Your truck will be just as low as a DM with spindles and a 3" Z.
