If you are good at all with a welder, its not that hard to make one. Just cut two slits, raise the sheet metal, Reinforce the rear to keep the integrity of the hood, then make two side strips, and weld back together. the rear will be slightly forward, but you can leave it that way or add more material.

I wouldn't be too quick to pull the trigger on one without doing a bunch of research on the quality of the products they put out, and their customer service. That's a lot of money to spend and maybe get a POS. There have been a few members here that have bought 'glass parts and been very unhappy. Not necessarily from Unlimited Products, but nonetheless be very cautious.

Don't do it! Check out my thread and read what all I had to deal with so that you can really make up your mind. I spent 5 months working on mine and it's been a nightmare. I still wonder how long it will hold up.

I've thought about doing it, but then again I have to pieces of junk hoods in my garage to experimenting on. I wouldn't personally experiment on your only rust free hood.

Re: cowl hood

I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get a fiberglass hood to do as Captain said and research the companies and their products. I researched US Body only a little bit and figured that if there were any problems they could be resolved because they are nearby, but unfortunately I found out differently and did so the hard way. I can almost guarantee another person that their hood will be the "so-called exception" that doesn't meet up with standards or quality. They act like those are few and far between which I doubt because there was no QC on my hood at all.
