For that specific year and truck configuration you have, the only 2 sizes from the factory were 235-75-16 -OR- 255-70-16

Whats the difference between the two?

Sidewall aspect ration, and overall tire height / diameter. However, a difference of 70 to 75 is not very much.

Re: Need new tires

If I ever want to know the stock tire size of a modern vehicle I go to the tirerack website and plug in the info for the model, then narrow it down from there.

Neither size is shown on this list but it's still a good site.

http://riverviewtire.com/Tireheightchart.html

The way it works is that the first number is the width of the tire tread in millimeters, so either 235mm or 255 mm. The second number shows sidewall height in percentage of the width.

In this case, 75% of 235 is 176.25mm or 6.93"
70% of 255 is 178.5mm or 7.02"

You double each number because there is the part of the tire on the top side of the rim and the bottom...then add the rim diameter...

A 235/75/16 is 29.86" tall
A 255/70/16 is 30.04" tall.

Good information.
Whenever I want to know the corrrect sized tires for a vehicle I look at the label attached to the driver's door. ;)
