Window Trim

I bought the window trim for my truck from a member here (thanks terd ferguson!!) Unfortunately, one of the connecting clips is missing and one is broken. Does anyone know where I could buy these? Also I wanted to know if this trim is stainless or chromed. I hit it with a magnet and it does attract but I am not sure if some SS might be magnetic.

Re: Window Trim

Check the box and pieces very carefully. All four small pieces were on the trim. I'm 100% positive of this. One of the little pieces was kind of loose, it may have slid further up the trim piece or have fallen off in the box. As for the broken one, I had insurance on the package. It wasn't broken when I packed it. I'll find out the insurance claim procedure and get back with you.

***EDITED TO ADD***
Please save the photo and the box if you still have it, just in case I need it for the insurance. Thanks.

Re: Window Trim

I filed an online insurance claim with USPS for the broken piece. I've never had to do this before so I don't know how long it'll take or how it goes. But maybe I can get you some cash back to make it better. Did you find the missing piece?

Re: Window Trim

No worries on the insurance!! I love the trim, I can't wait to put on my truck. Even if that will be years from now lol

Don't worry about the cash or anything, I got a heck of a deal and would recommend buying from you to anyone! I appreciate the offer though!

I didn't find the piece but I am sure in time I will get the pieces from somewhere, maybe a swap meet or something.

Maybe someone might know if the width/shape of this trim is similar to other trim used on other GM trucks/cars?

The factory windshield trim is stainless steel and they are not available in the aftermarket. I may have a few spares, if you still need them.

Check this out. It's for a '55-'59, but it's cheap and certainly worth checking out.....

If I cant find anything, for $1.99 it might be worth seeing if I can bend it to fit the contour. Thanks!

I'd wait til you need some other stuff too to order. It'll probably be $8 s&h for just the clip, lol.

All of the '60-'63 and 4-5-6 Chevy truck factory stainless steel window trim have four of the same size clips, so I am not sure what you mean about the "two different sizes".

These were off a GMC truck and had two short ones (almost square) and two longer ones (rectangular). The short ones covered the seams on the vertical sides and the longer ones were on the top and bottom seams of the windshield trim.

Re: Window Trim

My last post brings me to another thought. There's no reason at all you can't take the broken one, smooth off the rough edges on the broken side with a file, and use the two seperate pieces to cover two seperate seams.

Re: Window Trim

Good suggestion and it should work. I'm not sure that isn't what was done on the two smaller clips sometime in the past. I have never seen a Chevy or GMC with two long clips and two short clips, but great suggestion anyway.

You're probably right. I really have no idea as that's the first set I've seen in person on a truck.

I appreciate the kind words guys. I've had a bunch of different vehicles and been on a bunch of different forums since innernetz forums took off. This place and the hamb are the two best automotive forums people wise I've been on. Just plain ol' good folks out to help each other doing what they love. Is that too corny? :metal::ito:

Thanks guys for the help and that is a good suggestion if I cant find the clips. It will be awhile before I get to the point of installing them anyways so maybe someone here might have/find some.
