wheel spacers

i just got a set of used 17 inch torque thrust wheels. they are going on my 66 pickup. they are 6 lug.

the hub in the center of the wheel is smaller than the hub on my axles. has anyone used these before ??? they must make some sort of spacer and longer wheel studs i assume.

if anyone has any info on this it would be a great help. thanks

Re: wheel spacers

I have Torque Thrust ST's on my 64. Yes, they are for newer vehicles which have smaller axle hubs. I used a 1/4'' spacer on the rear axle and beveled off the edge of the hub for clearance. I also used 60* conical seat lugs with a shank to make up for the spacing and grab more of the stud.

I have heard of others having the wheel machined out to fit the hub and be hub centric. Others have turned down the axle on a lathe to match the wheel. I believe the old hubs are 3.5'' and the wheels are 3.25'' IIRC.

These wheels also have more backspacing, so be prepared for fitment issues with your tubs in the rear. I also had disc brakes up front so I did not have any problem bolting the wheels on in this corner of the truck.

Re: wheel spacers

The billet spacers will solve your problem. Do a search and you can find numerous suppliers. Probably get them made to fit and be hubcentric, too. I will probably be joining you for the rear of my '64.
