an idea how to lower rear leaf suspension

Hi folks.

I bought a 65 C10 2 years ago from Arkansas. It has a modified rear axle with leaf suspension. I guess it is a Blazer axle.

Now i try to lower my truck and have no idea how to do it. Can you give me your advice or howto's or even pictures for a better understanding. Maybe the best way is to build in a coil spring suspension again. I don't know.

Thanks alot
Greetings from Germany
Andy

Put lowering blocks between the spring perches and axle housing at the u-bolts (assuming the axle housing is sitting on top of the springs as opposed to the springs on top of the axle housing).

You can use the traditional shackle, I havent seen hangers for these trucks. Mite be able to relocate the hanger higher on the frame by redrilling the holes The easiest and cheapest route is to use a flip kit with puts the axle on top of the leaf and gives you about 5'' (estimated) drop.

I met a guy who used S10 leafs on his truck, and it was low. It's possible to adapt 73-87 stuff the the frame but the leaf springs are a different width. Ours are narrower by a 1/4'' I think. Not sure whats out there for 67-72 leaf trucks.

You can also take out some of the leafs, or take them to a spring shop and have them re-arced, but the axle over the spring give you the most if yours isn't that way already. I saw where one guy got an adapter to widen the lower mount and moved his upper mount outside the frame and moved it up.

If you want a mild drop...then I would pull a few leafs and combine that with a shackle....

Next would be an axle flip with a small bolt-in notch to retain a ride.

Obviously, the best would be convert back to TA's !!!

On my 72 I flipped the axle on top of the leafs using an inexpensive kit from DJM. Dropped it about 5 1/2", no C-notch (although it will get one as the axle hits the frame). I will be adding a 2" shackle as well for a healthy 7 1/2" rear drop. It is definitely possible to be low easily with a leaf truck.
