RPO 1G50 HD Rear Spring?

So I have a HD Rear Spring. Just what does that mean over a stock spring? Anyone know?

LOL!

For some reason, this has been a hot topic as of late!

One thing that is means is that the rear spring hanger is located 4" farther rearward on the frame rail. I'll have to let someone else answer how many leaves (8, I believe) or spring rate, etc.

Also - the actual RPO is just "G50". I'm not sure what the "1" signifies (on my SPID label all of the RPOs are prefixed by the number "9"). I'd be interested to learn what that's all about if anybody knows.

My '83 G50 has 52" springs, 5+1.

Alex.
