Installing new speakers in 97 Chevy
3 Attachment(s)
I bought some component speakers for my blazer that I never installed because they just looked funny. I want to install them in my 97 ext cab.
The 6 1/2's fit just fine but the factory tweeter mounts will not work with the aftermarket tweeter. The aftermarket ones have a mounting bracket that I can screw into the door panel. But I would rather find a way to mount them in the stock location. I also need to find a place to mount the crossover box(what ever it is called) Has anyone installed something similar or have any ideas on what I can do to make it look like a pro installed it instead of an idiot ......ie ME. I installed one of the woofers and it sounds terrible with the stock cd player. Thankfully I have an old cd player that I will be installing once I receive my install kit. Some more pics
I've thought about installed the crossover box on the kick panal and running the speaker wires through the door. I could try and mount it in the map pocket on the door but that might be a pain. |
Re: Installing new speakers in 97 Chevy
Find a place inside the door to zip tie that crossover and make sure it doesn't get wet. The armrest is usually a good place for that.
As for the factory tweter mount, I don't think you can use it seeing as the TMA tweeter is a bit bigger. You MIGHT be able to enlarge the hole in the mounting bracket on the stock part and adapt it to the TMA tweeter. The other option is to pt the tweters in the dash. |

little cutting and some abs plastic will mount that tweeter in there
