Steering Wheel Paint or Cover?
1 Attachment(s)
Got the temp registration for the 50 GMC yesterday, just have to bring it back for the famous Connecticut "VIN: check. I'm not worried since the block number matches the VIN on the Title. Still I ahve the same feeling I have at the Drs when I hear the snap of the rubber glove:sumo:
Anyway even though it was raining I took it out for a spin. Discovered several minor leaks in the windshield but since it is garaged and I do not plan to drive it in the rain I am not too concerned. The ugly surprise was the black junk that came off of the steering wheel all over my hands and clothes (I'm a "big" guy) from the parts of the steering wheel where the paint was gone. I goggled around for a cover but could not find one large enough. Anyone have any suppliers in mind for a stock wheel cover? Or, can the wheel be painted? If so any sp0ecial type of paint? Thanks Carl |
Re: Steering Wheel Paint or Cover?
I always use the peforated wraps on my steering wheels because it seems no matter what I do some kind of goo is shedding off them. On my truck I'm going to get some leather to match my seats, steal the wifes sewing machine, and make a cover for the wheel, lower column under the dash and boots for my transfercase levers.
You can paint them but it take a special cleaner, then special sealer, then automotive paint. Just painting them can turn the material to mush too if you use the wrong type of paint. |
