Dewalt 18V Impact Wrench
Thinking about buying, or recommending to the better half a gift idea, a Dewalt 18V cordless impact wrench.
Anybody have one? My air compressor came with a cheap 1/2" drive impact wrench and it doesn't seem to be working any longer. I was looking at a new air impact when I thought about a Dewalt 18V cordless. I already have a few 18V tools so I would just buy the tool without the batteries as I already have 4. I like to use it when changing tires. I am considering model DW059B http://www.dewalt.com/us/products/to...roductID=22949 http://www.dewalt.com//ProductImages...DW059B_1NB.gif Features: 300 ft-lbs of maximum torque to perform a wide range of heavy-duty fastening applications 1,650 rpm/2,600 bpm for faster application speed Preferred rocker switch design for fast and easy fastening Comfort grip provides maximum comfort Durable magnesium gear case and all metal transmission for extended durability Heavy-duty impacting mechanism directs torque to fastener without kickback |
Re: Dewalt 18V Impact Wrench
I have a small collection of DeWalt 18v tools and love every one of them. I don't have the impact but plan to buy it.
I suggest you get it with the battery. It's usually cheaper than buying the battery separate and you can never have too many batteries. |

Re: Dewalt 18V Impact Wrench
I have a DeWalt DC821KA and I love it. It is not an IR unit with lots of air, but it works for most things I need. I originally bought for deck framing, but now I use it to rotate my tires, and I just used it on stubborn shock bolts, spring hangers and U bolts. It really is handy.
* And I got it for a sweet deal on closeout, $150 for the whole kit(impact, 2 batts, and charger!) |

Re: Dewalt 18V Impact Wrench
I`ve never used one for automotive,but I like the Makita.It`s very compact,too.

Re: Dewalt 18V Impact Wrench
I had Makita in the past. I had very little luck with battery life, and they didn't compare in power to the DeWalts I owned. I now use DeWalt 18v exclusively.

Re: Dewalt 18V Impact Wrench
I`m talking about the latest Makitas.I have all Dewalt cordless tools and just recently have used the Makita impact. The battery life is what impresses me,along with the power and small size.

Re: Dewalt 18V Impact Wrench
it works great, only thing i dont really like is the size. its kinda bulky. my snap-on is smaller and its 3/8 drive and seems to have more power.

Re: Dewalt 18V Impact Wrench
Longacre Racing Products makes one a very nice one that is 24 volts. Tons of weekend warrior racers use and abuse them.
You can find them for $225-$250 for gun, 2 batteries and a charger if you shop around. http://www.longacreracing.com/catalo...st.asp?catid=6 |
Re: Dewalt 18V Impact Wrench
I have the dewalt and I LOVE IT!! It does not have an air impact power, but I use it a lot on my truck and cars.
When I did the front clip and suspension work on my 69 driver, it was all I used. Works great in a boneyard too, will break loose or just plain break just about any stubborn bolt. I have serveral other dewalt 18v tools and batts so I didn't need them and I picked up a refurb model off e-bay(2 yrs ago) for right around $100 delivered. For that price I couldn't pass it up, best bang for the $$$, imo |
