New guy from Idaho
:hi::new:Hey just thought I would pop in and say Hello. My name is Kevin. I'm from southeast Idaho. I love old Chevy trucks:chevy:. I just picked up last month a 66 lwb. I had some buddies in high school that had them and we had a lot of fun. I have been really partial to this body style and when I had the chance to pick this one up I jumped on it. The kid at the local parts house told me had a 66 to sell and if I knew anyone that wanted one I told him right then that I didn't know of anyone. I already had a project going on and really didn't it think it was too great of a truck. After a few days of it gnawing on me I decided to go look at it with my brother. I looked at it and decided I would have to have it. It supposedly had a 350 with recent rebuild but there was a grinding noise in the front of the engine and the truck wasn't getting any fuel to the carb. It had been sitting inside a shed for the past 3 years and the mice had gotten to the interior and it was all taken out. Had that great mice piss smell. But someone had put a lot of work into it some time ago. It had the stainless strips and oak in the bed, but the varnish is starting to peel on the wood. It had the chrome bumpers and grill that were in great shape. The body had and older paint job that will have to be redone but it was black and that is my favorite color. So we made the deal at 700 bucks and my brother towed me home. I ended up sitting on a folding chair cuz there was no interior. What a crappy ride home, I had to keep my neck bent sideways to see out the windshield.
After a couple of days of work I put in a new fuel lines from the under bed tank and a new harmonic balancer she runs like a champ. I checked on the heads they ended up being camelback fuelies so I was tickled to death:metal:. I'm hoping to do a budget build on it where money is tight with child support and crap like that. I'm excited to be a part of the forum and have already learned a lot from you guys. As soon as I figure out the how to post pics I'll put some up. Thanks |

Re: New guy from Idaho
Welcome from a fellow Idahoan from up North :D
Sounds like you got a good deal on your truck. The pic posting is a little messed up right now as the admin is working on the site. it should be back up shortly. In the meantime I think you can post pics if you have them on a pic hosting site such as photobucket. Just use this icon http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/i...nsertimage.gif to add the url of your pic |

Re: New guy from Idaho
Help..... I'm trying to post the pictures by using manage attachments. It says that I have too big of pictures. Is there anyway of compressing so that they will accept them? Or is it easier just to go to photo bucket?

Re: New guy from Idaho
photobucket is easier
you have to have the right software to downsize it i have a photoshop program i use to downsize that is called gimp 2.6 but it is much easier to use photobucket |
Re: New guy from Idaho
I think the attachment feature may be not working right now due to the recent server upgrade.
I use Imageshack as a hosting website. After some difficulty in the beginning I find it really easy. I did register (even though it's not required), then I can log in and all my pictures are there. There's an upload button on the toolbar, clicking that opens a menu so you can select the photo from your hard drive. Once uploaded, click on the picture which will open a new window. Then right click on the field of code on the right side, half way down that says "Embed this image, Forum". Copy this code and paste it into your forum message. Then click on "preview post" and it will show what your finished post will look like. |
Re: New guy from Idaho

Re: New guy from Idaho
Welcome from North Texas. ;)
I just open the pictures in Paint, then click "Image", then "Resize/Skew" and enter 50 or so in both the horizontal and vertical boxes. Then save it, and you can attach it. I prefer to use the site's attachment because people tend to change their photobucket accounts and stuff then you get red x's. If you use this site's, then they are here for good. :chevy: |
