Lowering a C20
I was wondering if anyone new of a good place to get a lowering kit for a 77 3/4 ton? Flip in the back and a spindle/spring in the front.?? I am having a hard time finding one. Ive seen them for the c30 and c10 but nothing really for a c20, and I wasnt sure if either would fit mine. Thanks in advance for any help

Re: Lowering a C20
What companies have you checked with. I "thought" Western Chassis made a dropped spindle for a C-20.

Re: Lowering a C20
I have checked all that I know, Belltech, DJM, summit and jegs.. Sport Truck Direct<--sells western chassis kits but they say they dont have one for a C20. I know it say's they have a new c20 kit on the western chasis app guide but I caint seem to get ahold of anyone there.... the phone # just keeps coming up with a crazy busy signal and hangs up, and nobody will email me back??? Who know's ..

Maybe they no longer make them. Several years ago Jason Hill of Hills Hotrods built a SWB CC. I am pretty positive it was C-20, not a single wheel C-30. I talked with one of his employees about it extensively at a show, and I swear he had Western Chassis spindles on it.
You might try sending a PM to Cheese. He works for Hills now. He wasn't around back then, but he might got Jason to confirm who made the spindles. This is the truck- |

Re: Lowering a C20
right on Ill check that out, I talked to a guy at sport truck direct apparently they sell a lot of WC kits, ?, and he told me that western chasis has had that c20 kit on the web site for a few years but never actually made any or what they did make they sold out of and never made anymore, guess there isnt much demand.
LayFrame, your an angle. I thought about bagging the truck awhile back and looked alot at their kit, never even thought to look back there for the spindles...Thanks bro |
Re: Lowering a C20
Look here:
http://www.performanceonline.com/sto...at=1143&page=1 POL (PerformanceOnLine) sells them for $228.99 (plus an extra $171 for the C20 drop spindle) Click on the drop down tab. Kinda high,... but exactly what you need. |
Re: Lowering a C20
Good research Keith. POL is a much better source than AIM/ChassisTech/Airbagit or what ever name they are hiding behind this week.
|
Re: Lowering a C20
I always thought the C30 spindles from Western Chassis would work on a C20.
I know the C30 ball joints are the same as the C20 ball joints. |
Re: Lowering a C20
You may be right. I don't have a lot of working knowledge of C-20/30's. I happened to remember that particular application because I had plans of building a SWB CC.

Re: Lowering a C20
BIG- Your welcome. I would say its a toss up between the 2 diffrent companies. Ive never heard of POL, But of course I know what AIM Industries is..Who dosnt..lol..If you do choose AIM, Dont be scared. I can honestly say I use to bash AIM and Joe Morrow for their products..Copying other brands names and trying to compete..But if you look at it from a business standpoint..Its pretty clever..In the end the consumer wins anyway..Just know that if you EVER have a problem with the spindles Just go DIRECTLY to Joe and he will clear it up and probably give you a full refund..Joe has really made an effort to make things right again with everyone even though he is considered retired..He still gives a s*it about peoples satisfaction with his products..And I find that a bold move..I would have gave up a long time ago and moved on if it were me..I havnt ordered enough stuff from AIM to tell you there is absoultely nothing wrong with it..But enough to say ive never had a problem..Goodluck on the truck!

Re: Lowering a C20
Very Very Nice guys, You guys rock!
lowlife, your right that is High, 4 hundo just for spindals but I might have to go that road, I really appreciate it. N2TRUX, I pm'ed cheese and he is going to talk to jason and let me know. It really looks like I (we) are getting a good handle on this here and 2 you sir I appreciate it Lay frame, I get what your saying about AIM, or whom ever Thier part might have to be the one for me price wise, we will see......Again I appreciate it When I get to putting this all togather I think this would be a good FAQ thread for the next guy down the road... |
Re: Lowering a C20
Member cochino12 put drop spindles on his brown crew cab,... but he has listed as a 1-ton.
I would still check and see if the "single wheel" 1-tons take the same rotor as the 3/4-ton trucks. I bet the Western C30 spindles will work. |
Re: Lowering a C20
BigE77',...
I assume those spindles are higher priced due to the low sales volume. Not a high demand spindle. |

AIM PARTS DONT BOTHER ME BUT THERE DISCLAIMER ON THERE SPINDLE KIND OF DID Need help call 800-842-8789. Before you buy, read Knowledge Base under RESOURCES on Home Page Use Drop Spindles on standare O.E. offset wheels only. Using an offset Wheel other than factory offset causes stress on spindle shaft & bearings and they can break!!

Thats pretty wild, I wonder how a slightly more offset wheel could put that much more stress on the spindle shaft... |
Re: Lowering a C20
I have the same issue finding anything to lower mine. I only want a slight drop on mine though, about 1-2". Any idea as to how I can accomplish this without cutting my springs?

Re: Lowering a C20
I have the AIM drop spindles and have not had a problem. They've been on the truck for 3yrs. I like them especial when someone says is that a c20 dropped. Yep 3in front 5 in back sits level.

Re: Lowering a C20
hey guys I just wanted to follow up on this thread bc I wanted to see if the C30 drop spindle will work on the c20 truck. I have a 69 c20 and have done the 73-up 8 lug disc brake swap and have replaced the balljoints and tie rod ends to make it all work. Any help would be appriceiated.
