92 K2500 frame options
Hi Guys, I own a 92 Chevy K2500 Reg Cab 6.5 TD. My frame is a little on the tweaked side and I would like to find out which frames I can swap with. Specifically, which frames my control arms will fit. I have the stamped lowers with the riveted(now bolted) ball joints. Will these arms fit onto a frame that came with the stamped arms and pressed ball joints or one with the cast arms? From what I've found around 95 or 96 they changed to a cast style(from timbren site) and I was wondering if the geometry was the same with all three arm styles. I would like to find a 98 frame from a pickup or suburban(same wheelbase) and switch everything over to it, refurbishing as I go. The end result is going to be a 68 Chevy c20 riding on a 92/98 K2500 frame with a 6.5 TD(MFI). But first I need to sort out my frame options. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 92 K2500 frame options
Seems like it would be less work to put your drivetrain in the 68 frame. The 88-98 frame is not a good match to your 68.

Re: 92 K2500 frame options
Thanks for the response N2TRUX.I realize that this is not a popular mod but #1 I do like how my Ghevy drives and handles especially after I put bilsein shocks all around and #2 It is nice to have 4WD in the winter around here (Edmoton Alberta). Is there anyone on here that has done this swap? Is there major mods involved? As far as I can tell fabbing custom mounts for the cab, rad support and bed are the worst of it. Line up on the front tires and move the rear spring perches. The 6.5 is about the same size as a BB so there shouldn't be to big a problem there.

I'm going to move this to the 4wd forum to see if it gets a better response.

Re: 92 K2500 frame options
There has been one here done it but I'm not sure who it was or how long ago it was. His truck had a lot of work but came out very nice. Some of these guys with a better memory will maybe chime in.
