Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
This is one cool project
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Very cool looking truck...
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
I cant tell you how bad I want to do this. Just a little too expensive for me.
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
I've had buyers remorse a few times after the $6000+ initial motor/trans/transfercase investment.
http://www.lonniesperformance.com/85...n/IM000963.jpg Then I had to buy the $3000 Suncoast converter/transmission kit so it will handle the 500rwhp tune I have for it. At least I only things I still have to buy are tires, wheel, interior, stereo, rearends & driveshaft.... |
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Nice project!
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
watching this one
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
I will be sure to keep watching this. I have wanted to see someone do this for a while. The trucks gonna be insane!
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Awsome project.Like the way it is headed.
Keep up the nice work. |
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Any cab/Allison clearance issues?
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
There is considerable interference with the floor.
I had to do a lot of engine/trans alignment as well as a small body lift to keep the body off the rear of the trans. I refuse to cut the body as I want to keep the original look... hoping it looks like a factory install when it is done. |
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Wow
very cool build.... The finished product will be down-right MEAN :metal: |

Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Did you have to drop the driveline down to clear? I have heard of several people start this and then stop because of fitment.
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Had to build a new crossmember for under the engine & modify trans crossmember. I also had to raise the body slightly.
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
there is a few square bodies on thedieselplace.com that ham dmax swaps
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Great Idea. I am a big fan of the Duramax. Is that an LLY engine?
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Yes, it is an LLY.
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Any updates? I am seriously concidering this swap!! If you didnt raise the body, how much of the floor would have to be cut?
|
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
It depends on how you mount the engine. With mine, I barely got by with lifting the body 1-1/4".

Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Good job man cant what to see done:metal:

Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Made a little progress this weekend.
Added some MegaMat to quiet the noise. It really hurt to cover my nice paint.... http://www.lonniesperformance.com/85...terior/778.jpg Got the firewall plate permanently installed. http://www.lonniesperformance.com/85...rewall/781.jpg Added a dash picture... although not finished yet. I still have to modify the radio opening & modify the opening for the column. http://www.lonniesperformance.com/85...terior/783.jpg |
Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
That dash bezel is cool!!!

Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion

|
