Inline 6 manifold/carb warmers?
Ok, so I am planning on adding some sort of aftermarket intake to my I6 250 in my 1963 C10. I've bid on a few 2x2 intakes, and, most recently, a single 4-bbl intake in Ebay. My question is:
I keep reading that you need to heat the fuel mixture for regular driving my tapping a hole in the manifold, etc. I heard someone in my hometown recently say that you could just use a heated spacer (?) so as not to have to tap the manifold, and add the space of a carb spacer for the fuel density. Does anyone do this, recommended for or against, or have an opinion on whether to tap the manifold or look for a spacer than is set up to be heated? Clifford apparently might have made a heated spacer, but doesn't anymore, I checked. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Inline 6 manifold/carb warmers?
My 60 it has an old Clifford, with no heat provision, but hear in San Jose it isnt that big of a problem.
Clifford now makes there manifold with the provision to use water to heat the intake, Offy's are made to "bolt" to your stock exhuast or to use an an addapter available thru Tom Langdon I m sure some one will post the website , if not Ill find it for you Good luck and post some pics Hey Chief I got the Offy for you. |

Re: Inline 6 manifold/carb warmers?
ok, found one of the carb spacer/ heater plates i had heard of. Apparently, they're out of production, and have been for some time. I am going to guess that this will be just as good as tapping the manifold itself?

Re: Inline 6 manifold/carb warmers?
I used an Offenhauser intake on with dual Rochester carbs and the heater plate from Langdon. It worked fine on mine.
