Custom door panels; Should I?
Hey guys,
I've got the itch to work on the truck again this winter and I'm weighing my options right now. I'm going to be majorly overhauling either the interior (again) or the engine compartment. I'm thinking of converting to a black intrior this time, bucket seats, custom console to house new subs, custom amp rack against the back wall, and lastly, new door panels. I have a pretty good idea of what I want in the rest of the interior, but for the door panels, I'm a little stuck. I kind of like what I have now; Stock style uppers with custom lowers, but I'm thinking about changing it up and maybe even starting from scratch... Any suggestions or ideas on what I should do? Here's what I have now; http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...5/P1010214.jpg |
Re: Custom door panels; Should I?
if you do change your interior I would be glad to get rid of all your tan stuff for ya lol

Re: Custom door panels; Should I?
Don't let those crazy interiors from the modern car scene get to your head. You will always outclass them every time. Sure, there was that big billet craze in the 90's, and I don't even know what the fad is with interiors now, but those are fads. What you have is timeless.
I would focus on the engine compartment and any others details that could help it at a show. |
Re: Custom door panels; Should I?
I say go for it then i will take a day trip up to sac and help you out then as repayment you will give me the old stuff. lol

Re: Custom door panels; Should I?
Your interior is awesome. Spend some time under the hood and give it more power or more class. Heck, give it more of both. Good luck on whatever you decide. I love those lower door panels by the way.

Re: Custom door panels; Should I?
You have a nice interior now. Yeah, it could always be made nicerer. If your plans include changing it to black, I say leave it alone. Black will not stand out like your light color does now.

Re: Custom door panels; Should I?
I would leave it alone... and stick your money to make your outside match your avatar pic.

:agree:
I like your interior, and with the plans you have mentioned for its future...I say help it out under the hood. |

I'm leaving the exterior alone for now. Just repairing the damage from the hit/run and leaving it stock for now. I think I'm going to take your guys' advice and replace to motor and dress-up the engine bay. Right now I'm collaborating with my old roomy about getting just the right amount of custom/production look. Loking at custom valve covers, engine cover, and fluid tanks. |
Re: Custom door panels; Should I?
don't go overboard with trinkets...use the same class you've used already

Re: Custom door panels; Should I?
I'm looking through Summit Racing right now and have found the headers, overflow tank, master cylinder, and a few little things.
I'm stuck on valve covers, air cleaner, and wether or not to switch to electric fans. I've got some ideas that may seem really outlandish to some, but I think that they will fit in the overall plan. I'm trying to do some things that make people take a second look and wonder if it's custom, or factory. EDIT: There's going to be ALOT of little things in this. Hose seperators, clamps, tie-downs, hoses, fittings, hardlines, the list goes on. |

Re: Custom door panels; Should I?
The color you have is nice, the black will not pop like it does now.

Re: Custom door panels; Should I?

Re: Custom door panels; Should I?
I definitely would keep the color of the interior. Second, think long and hard about the bucket seats. I had a center console with subwoofer box built and bucket seats put in my 86 and now regret it. I now am cutting up my center console to fit a bench seat because now I have a family. I do think however think some custom glassed door panels would look good.
