very easy go to user cp then scroll down the page on left under settings click edit avatar

Is that the same avatar that went away? Maybe someone objected to it for not being family friendly to the board...just thinking out loud.

If that's the one that went away, it's done for a reason. I suggest you find one more appropriate to the forum.
