You are supposed to put the gasket around the windshield, the chrome in the gasket, and then install the whole set up at one time. That being said, I was never able to do mine myself. I ended up putting the chrome in after the windshield and gasket. It didn't look good and leaked like crazy. A year or so ago I had the local glass company reseal my windshield with a new gasket and all is well.

My suggestion - Find a good class man who has worked on our trucks before.

the way i fixed mine was to buy the windsheld gasket without the grove in it. gives it a more modern look. JMO.

Old glass man here.... You must install trim in gasket before. Once glass is installed and you need to pull glass the best bet is to cut the inside of gasket or you will most likely break the glass.
These are not easy to do with the trim and to install without any leaks. One problem is that new glass is much thinner than the old original glass. There is also two different trims and gaskets. The difference is the lip on the trim that goes in the gasket. You must have the correct gasket and trim.

Best of luck!! Installing DW685's is not something I miss.....:smoke:
