Re: Bought a Motor
 Cool. Should be fun, as long as it isn't at the end of its lifespan on that build.

Re: Bought a Motor
A drag motor can and usually does have extremely high compression, as you can't usually burn a piston in 12 seconds. Racing cams knock the effective pressure down some due to high overlap. My race engine was 11.5 to 1, and I had to use race gas, $6.00 a gallon. It did smell nice, though. Racing valve springs have very high loading characteristics, so if it has a flat tappet cam, you will need to run Shell Rotella oil or additives to keep from wiping the cam. If you are going to drag race exclusively, I guess it's a wise choice, or just cruise on Friday nights, but for street use, you may find yourself regretting this swap.

Re: Bought a Motor
The picture i guess is a little deceiving. The car is very streetable , it is not a drag only car it will run on pump gas just fine . We have been buddies for quite a few years so i know the motor pretty good. The motor is not that wild he just has a good engine tuner and an excellent drivetrain combo

Re: Bought a Motor
The chassis of that nova is set up pretty well if he is running 1.66 60' times. By comparison, my stock '02 Trans Am runs a 2.20 60' on p245/50/16 street tires. A vortec headed 350 with flat tops will be in the 10.5:1 range, so pump gas is fine. I would be a little concerned about the intake manifold and cam choice going from the Nova to the heavier truck. I think the engine will lack the low end torque.
