Ducktail Cab Spoiler?
I have seen quite a few trucks, mostly GM, with an old school duck tail spoiler on the back of the cab. Most of the ones I have seen have been on crew cabs. I would like to see more trucks with these and also like some info on where I can get one.
Thanks Benjamin. |
Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?

Ah ok like this one then.....

Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?
I have seen em a bunch. Was popular on crew cab dualies and show trucks. I think most where not specific for these but"molded" to fit the roof line.

YAH ROOF SPOILER!! WHOO!
why not update a little? ... |
Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?
Cab spoilers were a popular edition for conversion companies during the late 80's early 90's. Not so much any more...:(

Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?
Personally I think that the spoiler on Steemin's truck looks out of place. I'd expect to to see that on a Civic. The duck bills are nice and subtle and were made to fit the cab.

Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?
I just like the look of the ducktail more because because it flows with the lines of almost anything. Plus, the ducktail was available on just about every muscle car made from 1967 through 1974. And it just plain ole looks cool.
BLE 'BURBAN---Yes, that's the one. I've also seen them on 67-72's and on 88-current trucks. |
Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?
BTW- I lived through the era that these were in style, and never heard them referred to as duck tails.

Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?
What are they then? Rear Cab Roof Spoilers? Deck Edge Spoilers? Beaver Tail Spoliers? Platapus Bill Spoilers?
|
Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?
Id like to find 1 of those cab spoilers for my crewcab.

Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?
I remember a few GMC shortys from around 77 that came with the cab spoiler, front air dam and fender flairs similar to the trans ams, rally wheels and L60/15 tires from factory with 454 if I recall correctly. I do not remember if the package had a name or not. Maybe someone can come up with some pics of the trucks. How bout it Ken (n2trucks)?

Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?

Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?
They were called ducktail spoilers when they were on the muscle cars, so that's the term that I use. They were extremely common on 70's Camaro's Firebird's and Trans Am's.

Re: Ducktail Cab Spoiler?
seriously, who cares what they were called, that amarillo package was horrible! I know to each their own and alot of us come on here for someone else's opinion. IMHO thats horrible, the beauty of these trucks is in their simplicity. I have always hated duckbills, rear spoilers, Rear Cab Roof Spoilers, Deck Edge Spoilers, Beaver Tail Spoliers, Platapus Bill Spoilers, whatever you guys want to call them, they dont look right on trucks. And that truck with the hood scoops on the door? WTF was going threw that guys head when he did that.
