under the seat subs
ok so whos mastered the dimensions of a box that will fit right under the seats in the c10 models from 67-72 i have a 69 and i was just wondering if anyone new what i could do to get a setup of either 2 10's or 3 8's
possibly using mtx or jl audio anyone have advice to what type of speaker and what model and how to create a box for one of these setups if so the info would be greatly appreciated... i dont want to settle for a little bit of bass i want mine to knock as hard as possible thanks |
Re: under the seat subs
Under teh seat is going to be a hard one to get hitting hard.
JL doesn't make a shalow sub small enough. If you can swing a 12" under there then JL would be the way to go although finding the airspace might be a challenge... Look into doing a fiberglass box with either 3 10's or 3 12's from Pioneer. You'll need lots of power to feed these hungry beasts too. 1000wRMS would be reasonable. |
Re: under the seat subs
ya i have a 1400 watt amp already i just need subs and a box wut specific pioneer sub r u talkin about???
and im not to nifty with wood work so id have to have a little help wit dimensions |
Re: under the seat subs
Th actal ctting shoud be a piece of cake. The "hard" part would be forming the flor of the box in FG.

Re: under the seat subs
The box i made and carpeted myself, and yes the amp is hidden under the passenger seat. the sub pushes 1500 watts and hits pretty good, i had thought about someone stealing it so i made it fit tight under the dash, i took me about an hour to figure out a way to get it in with the seat in so im not really worried . i will hopefully fiberglass it soon but its kinda hard on my 15 year old budget:lol:

Re: under the seat subs
how long and wide is ur 1500 watt amp ???
|
Re: under the seat subs
For the average persons needs you could do two shallow kicker 10's and a nice 4 channel amp under the seat. I haven't done subs under one of these in a really long time but I'm pretty sure it could be done. I personally would try to fire the sub down if any way possible.

Re: under the seat subs
Here is my setup in my 70 long bed. I have two tens from Dual that were givin to me, just happen to match my red interior, and an amp I picked up from a buddy and don't remember the specifics on. The rest of the system is a Pioneer deck with Pioneer six and a halfs.

Re: under the seat subs
70Redblurr, where is the rest of your setup? I see a head unit under the steering wheel, which is what I've been thinking about...where are the mids? I don't want to cut up my doors and door panels.

Re: under the seat subs
Here is a picture of my speakers. I know it's not the best way to do it but it works for me until I can make some mounts for them, until now its zip ties. I have heard and actually seen a guy at a swap meet selling kick panels for speakers. Think it was down in Pomona CA. any way they were nice and ran a bout $60. I just cant remember the name of the place that sold them.

Re: under the seat subs
Next question...where did you buy that head unit mount?
Was thinking about making one, but if I can find one cheap... |
Re: under the seat subs
d-rat, I bought mine at a local Best Buy. I asked and the guy didnt know what I was talking about so asked him to show me to the install dept. I talked to a gentleman there and he knew exactly what I needed gave it to me and I was on my merry way. You can try that or I found it on ebay and here is what I typed in the search, Universal Underdash CD CB Radio Stereo Housing Mount. After that a little trimming and finding where you want to mount and thats it.
