Two questions: exaust related

Ok question numbers 1: Cruising down the freeway today with the torque convertor locked up manually, I let off the gas [around 2000rpm] and I got a few light pops out the exaust. Is this timing? Vaccum?

Second, my exaust collector doughnuts refuse to work. Well for more then a week at least. After that I need to replace them. This is really annoying. Do they make all aluminum versions? The stock ones just dry out, crack and plain suck.

1st problem could be anything but the second problem is no problem. I installed a product called dead-soft aluminum collector gaskets and had great success with them. You can remove them and reuse them because they do not dry out.

Or you can try copper. I hear they are the best, but dont have any personal expierence with either.

Do you think the popping is because your exhuast system is so short, like we talked about in another thread? Have you checked your timing or vacuum?

Welcome to the board! :D

I was hoping they had aluminum gaskets.

EDIT: Eddie, what post are you talking about? I doubt it though, it dosent normally do this.

Tom- I used the copper gaskets on mine since mine were doing the same as yours on drying out and falling off. I got the Mr. Gasket copper gaskets and no problems since. :)

On the popping was it just this time or more often lately? Sounds like maybe a timing issue that is making it a little rich.
