My little 65 build

Ive been working on it for a few weeks already, this is the first time I have taken pictures.
Tomorrow ill mount the rear axle and finish the rear frame rails. Today I had to cut off the shock mounts and re weld them to my new rear end. Its a 273 rear end. Had alot more planned today but it started to get crappy outside. Sorry for the poor pics, all I had was my iphone camera :dohh: |
Re: My little 65 build

Re: My little 65 build
Welcome to the site- what are your plans for it?
|
Re: My little 65 build
Fix the rust, knock out the dents, fresh paint and put a cam'd 350 in it. Nothing major yet.
Yeah I get some pics tomorrow. |

Re: My little 65 build
Welcome to the board :D
Those are some tall gears......2.73's will be nice for the highway. What size tires do you have planned? Be careful with how big of a cam you put in that 350 with those tall gears. |

I need to do this too, so the info is appreciated. |
Re: My little 65 build
I wire wheeled the frame. Knocked off all surface rust, and tar crap. The frame was in great shape no dent or bends, and just minor surface rust. It came out smooth so I didnt sand. After all its the frame and no one sees it haha
Since its the frame and its exposed to losts of road salt, gravel ect. I am painting the frame with black equipment enamel. I thinned it down so I could shoot it. Ill use a good car paint for the body tho. |
Re: My little 65 build
thanks. Where did you get the paint and how much was it?
|
Re: My little 65 build

Re: My little 65 build
I got the equipment enamel paint at the local Coop or hardware store. I think its $5 a quart and $25ish a gallon.
Thanks lilred66, I am going to try to keep working through the winter. This weekend ill slap the bed on and move to the fun part, the front half :) |

Well I got a little side tracked, my 65 is almost complete. But I bought my wife this 1964 chevy 4x4, she really wanted to drive it so I got it fixed up for her to drive the last bit of the summer.
Here are some pics of it on the trailer, sanded and painted. Ill be doing the interior and new rims and tires this month. Hope you like it. |
