Chevy 250 in 1962 C20

I want to put a 250 in place of the run down 350 in my 1962 truck. Will it mount right onto the engine mounts and bolt up to the 4speed with granny gear? I believe it will but i want to be sure before I buy the engine.

That 250 should bolt right up in place of that 350. Of course that is assuming that whoever installed that 350, did so in a normal fashion......and that it is a Chevy 350 and not an Oldsmobile or something odd.

If you have the correct perches for the motor mounts yes.

But there are still some issues!

The heigth difference of where the fan blades sit may require moving the radiator to the "other" position.

You may need to change the type of starter to the one which bolts into the belhousing instead of to the block.

Different length reach for alternators wires,Distributor power wire, starter wire, etc.

All in all, its not that much trouble though(to me at least).

Will you be using a really later model 250, or an earlier one(the ones that came in these trucks)?

Actually I found a rebuilt 292 for a hundred more. The engine is from 68. Yes it's a Chevy small block in the truck now. Thank you for the help.

And a 292 will be much better suited for that truck.

Good for you!!

To install a 292 in place of that 350, you will have to move the passenger side frame bracket forward. In the factory installation, the passenger side bracket is shorter to compensate for the forward position. Without seeing just what style of mounts are in your truck it is difficult to give much more info. The '60-'62 trucks didn't have side motor mounts originally except for the auto trans applications, which seem to be rare.
