from 700r4 to th400
 
My 84 GMC has a 700r4 and im going to put in a th400 when i put my new engine in. My question is do i have to move or change the tans crossmember. If i have to get another one who sells them.

i think you can move your existing crossmember 3" forward, but I think you'll need a th400 yoke on your driveshaft............ and your driveshaft will need to be lengthened approx 3"

Thank you very much, i going to buy a new driveshaft. That sounds easy enough to do.

Also if you can find one get a 75 or older X-member as they have room for dual exhuast or 3/4 ton with some minor fab work room for 3" dual exhaus.Like this http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/100_1859.jpg
