Need some help...brake hose measurements
I need to order a set of brake hoses for my '69 K10 with a 4" lift. I swapped in '72 axles so I currently have disc brakes up front with drum brakes out back still. I took a rough meaurement from the back of my calipers to the hole in the frame where they mount and came up with 24". How much "extra" brake hose do I need for suspension travel? Anyone out there with the same lift specs that can get some measurements for me?
Thanks. |

Re: Need some help...brake hose measurements
Thank you Sir. I'm talking with ORD about their hoses and they told me that a 24" hose came in their extended hose kit for trucks with a 4" lift, which of course isn't long enough for me. He then told me that they have 29" or 33" hoses as well. I'm thinking the 33" hose would work but I don't want to end up with too much slop in the hoses.

Re: Need some help...brake hose measurements
to much slop in your hose could be bad ya know... (snickering like a 13 yr old!)
I don't think that your suspension will drop that much would it? I guess if you crossed a ditch and the driver side jammed up tight then the pass side would flex longer, but not a lot with leaf springs... |

Here are a couple of pictures showing what I have now. Front end, granted this is a straight line but it's 22-23" from the caliper to the frame mounting point. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_0716-1.jpg Rear end from top of the axle to the rear mount. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0715.jpg |
Re: Need some help...brake hose measurements
hmm. I have a 77 so it is probably different but i am running ORD's 4 inch lift extended brake lines and have plenty of slack in front. When i got them i thought they looked alittle short but on my truck they are perfect.

Re: Need some help...brake hose measurements
I guess I need to talk to ORD again and confirm what I was told. I've been emailing one of their techs about this and his response below is why I measured my frame to start with. Like everyone else I want to order the right part the first time. I'll forward the pictures above to them today and see what they suggest.
"The fronts are 25", and the rear is 18". We have longer kits if you need them. We have not recieved UPS yet today, but as of now we have not recieved them." Jon Snow Offroad Design 484 C.R. 113 Carbondale CO 81623 970-945-7777 Thanks for the help. |
