np 205
Guys my uncle has a 205 transfer case he says i can have for my build, the question is how do i know if it will work with sm465 Tranny ? :help:

Re: np 205
What was the NP205 out of? What transmission was it hooked to? Divorced or?
You can usually make it work but you might have to change an input shaft or? Does it come with the adapter? You will need one. |
Re: np 205
I'm not sure what its out of, someone gave it to my uncle. It is in his shed somewhere i just haven't had a chance to go get it. I not sure if the adapter is on it or not i hope it is if not i just have to buy one. I'm just wondering which input shaft i need for my granny four. I just think i would rather have the 205 then the 208 i have now. Thanks for the help!

Re: np 205
correct me if i'm wrong guys, but isn't a 208 basically just an aluminum 205?

Re: np 205
I believe for a 4 spd 205, you need the 10 spline Chevy version.
As for the 208, yeah I think it is a pert time case like the 205, obviously not as stout. I saw a couple of threads here about them, and have found these links online. I am sure there is a ton more... http://www.offroaders.com/tech/Diagrams/np205.htm http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog...rcaseparts.htm http://www.tbtrans.com/transfer_case.htm http://www.jbconversions.com/index2.php?pc=3 |
Re: np 205
The NP208 is an aluminum case and chain drive. The NP205 is an iron case and gear driven.

so incredibly no. unbelivably no. if some one heard you say that in person you would be in serious danger no. you never said what year 465 either, older will need a 10spl male. newer will need a long 32spl female. |

The 205 your dad has could be 10, 27 or 32 spline if it is GM and different than that if it is Dodge. Your 77 should be 10-spline. |
Re: np 205
Well guys here's what i got. My 77 is 2wd I am redoing a frame from a 83 that had a sm465 with a 208 transfer case to do a frame swap. Im getting this 205 for free and would like to use it in my build. Thanks for all the help everyone.

Re: np 205
I have had both of those t-cases deppending what your use for the truck is. I run a 241 in my truck and love it because of the low range being a 2.72.1 and the 205 is like 1.96.1 if i remeber right.

Re: np 205
that 465 is going to have the 32 spl out put and you will need the 32 spl long female input shaft and it will need to have the circle 6 bolt pattern.

Re: np 205
I would like to use it. For the strength. If i have to ill use the 208, but I would rather use the 205. I figure if im gonna clean one up and put new seals in it. I might as well use the 205. Im Building the truck to use it, to haul coal and firewood.

Re: np 205
