73-87 with White Walls
Thinking about putting white walls and chrome smoothies / chrome reverse wheels on my 86 after I get air ride on it. I have found a few pics but I figured you guys would have some.
Thanks! |
Re: 73-87 with White Walls
I personally think the smoothies and white walls don't look right on these trucks......wrong era
but that is just my opinion, take it or leave it ;) |

Re: 73-87 with White Walls
wide whites+flat or satin paint= ok
|
Re: 73-87 with White Walls
I love wide whites on older trucks, but not sure about a square body. I guess I'd have to see it.

Re: 73-87 with White Walls
Vomitfest. Don't do it man, that is tacky as hell.

If done properly, it looks good IMO. For example, I don't think you can put them on a stock suspension truck with rust and diff colored body panels...it just wouldn't look right.

I've been contemplating wide whites for my suburban, already painted my rally's satin black. These are the only pics I have of square body trucks.
Does anyone know what these hubcaps are from??? |
Re: 73-87 with White Walls
Those caps are from an Astro van

Re: 73-87 with White Walls
Mine weren't wide whites but just a cheap white wall tire with rallys.

Re: 73-87 with White Walls
The thick whiteys wouldn't look right on this one but stock type would.

Re: 73-87 with White Walls
I've got plain white walls for a stock look, not the wide ones. I guess they look alright on the rat rod style trucks. Coyote Customs, I'm really diggin' that truck.

Sorry, here's a pic.

Re: 73-87 with White Walls
I've never seen that done to a 73-87. Those trucks look great. The one at stock height could stand to come down a few inches but overall that looks a whole heck of a lot better than I would have guessed.

I never thought wide whites would look good on a square body, but since I went with a satin paint on my truck, I've been kicking around the idea. Some of these trucks look pretty sick!
Photoshop anyone?? :) |

Wide white walls and smoothies in squarebodies make it look like a clown truck. Might as well paint Ringling Brothers Circus on the side

Here's some photos I took this morning. I dismounted the whitewalls from the widened rallys, and stuck them on the 6-lug wheels for my '68 GMC blackwall side out. The white rusty devil is my big-block '75 Big10 short Fleet with stock rallys with some kind of big ugly K-mart tires. That's California rust by the way, those early squarebodies rusted like a champ even in CA. The Toyos on 20s on my '79 Big10 still make it look like a "clown truck" because of the dated billet wheels, I bought 10-years ago for my '88, but its my truck, so I can do whatever I want to it. — In fact, I think I'll go clown some fool with it right now.
