New guy on here
Im Dillion I'm new to the Chevy truck, don't know much about them. I've had a camaro all my life MOMS1978 on nastyz28.com My camaro was my mothers first car.
My grandpa is giving me/bagging me to get out of his hair, his old gas hauling truck. Truck has been sitting in barn just about its entire life. Used only to go to gas station fill the diesel and gas tanks on the back and back to the barn. Has just under 100k miles Inline6, 3 on the tree, 2wd 8ft bed. Truck not running now, hasn't ran for about 7 years. I tried to sell it for him but no luck, don't have the heart to scrap a solid old chevy. First modification I will want to make is a swap to a floor shift. And a 350 in Inline 6 out. I would consider keeping the I6 because I just really dig the I6 engines for some reason. I've had a 90f150 I6 5spd, but it was slow as could be people always honking at me to speed up. If I can swap rear gears and beef up the I6 a bit and get it to the point where it won;t hold up traffic then I'd keep the I6. Chevy truck gods please direct to the threads covering the topics above... thanx much Dillion :chevy::chevy: http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l...ODRACKS001.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l...ODRACKS007.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l...ODRACKS008.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l...ODRACKS014.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l...ODRACKS011.jpg |

Going for a mostly stock look,I imagine it with rally's, rings and caps white letters out a different rear bumper. And thinking now a 350 would be much much better. I know my way around a sbc 10x more than the I6. Big thing for me about this project is that its going to be my first engine build. I've always bought engines for my camaro, for years I been dieing to build one at home myself, I have a 350 2 bolt with lots of parts to start with. Have already acquired 2 sbc rebuilding manuals and in the process of reading the Haynes Chevrolet Overhaul Manual. Got a list of tools I need to collect. Probably going to go the route of ordering a stock rebuild kit from northernautoparts. Open to any ideas............very excited I been waiting years to build a motor. Anyone know what rear gears this truck would most likely have? |
