suspension swap question

Ok I have a 69' c10. I want power brakes with disc up front. In another post someone suggested I buy a 73-87 donor truck & swap crossmembers & pretty much rob what I need for my truck. As hard as it would be for me to do that (I love the 73-87's) I've been hunting for a donor. My question is will the same principles apply to a 73-87 suburban 2wd or are the suspensions different between the suburbans & trucks?

73-87 suburban and trucks are the same. if you could find a 71/72 chevy parts trucks, they will have disk, and 5 lug all the way around and you wont have to modify the rear end. we bought a 72 as a parts trucks and swapped the front xmember, rearend, booster, ps , etc.

I thought about that but I'm having better luck finding 73-87 trucks & suburbans cheap. I've found a few for under $1000. People want an arm & a leg for 71 & 72's here. I'm going to be doing a lot of cutting & welding on the 69 anyway so I'm ok with having to modify the rear diff. Thanks for the info tho!

Just to to clarify- 71-87 C10 trucks. Burbs go all the way to 91. Blazers are the same as well, but 2wd ended in 82.

I picked up an 85' burban last night for $800. The only problem is my wife went with me & fell in love with it! She wants me to leave it alone & fix it up now! Its in really good condition considering its age & has been in arizona all its life. The guy still had the window sticker from a dealership in Mesa in 1985! Talk about all time back fires! Hahaha.

CB24,...
why not forget the donor truck.
Like I always say,... what used parts are you planning on reusing?

Most parts need to be new in my opinion.
Rotors, calipers, bearings, brake pads, ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, etc.

I would just post a wtb ad for spindles and dust shields. (or buy drop spindles)
The crossmember you have is fine and so are the a-arms.

I have an entire front frame stub I would sell for $50 if you were only closer.
