4 speed

Merry Christmas!
My 1969 k/10 was originally a 4 speed but someone converted it to an automatic. I was interested in switching it back to a 4 speed and wondering what years of trucks would all the parts directly fit, with out having to mickey mouse things.
Thank you and have a Merry Christmas.

The 67-72 should be interchangeable.

Very few people around these parts like the 4 speeds, well except me I guess. I have one in my '67 with a l6 250 and one in my '71 with a 350 V-8.

Some one with more info will chime in I am sure.

If your`69 is an automatic you probably have the`70-newer NP205 transfer case. There are differences in the couplers between trans and t-case and trans tail shaft. It`s best to buy a complete combo from trans to t-case,IMO.You can get them for $200-300.You can just pull the clutch pedal of another and stick it back in it`s mount. You`ll need the clutch linkage, too. They say it`s easier to go manual to auto than visa-versa.

I'll second that. Since your truck has already been "worked on" there's no telling where all the parts came from to make your present system work. If you can't afford or find a complete set just be aware you may have some surprises along the way. It's all part of the fun. So long as you stick with 67-72 parts you'll probably be OK.

FWIW, I love my SM 465 and I drag race with it just fine. Yeah that's right I drag race with it. But I've had years of practice shifting SM 465 tranny's so it's second nature to me.

The biggest complaint people have with the SM 465 is the sloppy shifter. Lots of people on the forum, myself included, have made the "Curing the SM465 Sloppy Shifter" repair here. It won't make it a sport car manual but it is still a night and day improvement.
