It is really clean but I don't know if an 86 is worth that much. Still a POS CCC Q-Jet and all the associated lame early ECM components.

I'd still love to have it but think maybe $4500 is closer to right. You can get some pretty darn nice vehicles for $5000 let alone $7500.

I would also love to have this truck, but I have my eyes on a M1028 or M1008 5/4 tonner for the reason that they are smog exempt, come with the same running gear, and are just plain sweet.

Re: My dream truck came up for sale!

I talked to the guy tonight, 109,000 original miles and 3.73 gears. He swore it was the real deal, even original paint. I am going to do some talking to the wife, trucks like this just don't come up these days...

Yes sir it is. I would take that truck and put a wheel lift on the back of it and make money.

that is a really nice truck, but i agree it may be overpriced in my opinion. from the pics it is very nice, probably one of the nicer stock trucks i've seen in a while.

Re: My dream truck came up for sale!

if it's rust free I wouldn't call it overpriced, try to build a K-30 w/454 with A/C for under $7500...

I'm with you on that, I've been lookin at this one. My buddy just bought a M1028 from the same guy

Re: My dream truck came up for sale!

What is a CUCV? And a M1028?

SMiller 01-02-2010 07:40 PM

Re: My dream truck came up for sale!

They are the old Military Chevy trucks. The M1029 is a K30 with the NP205 and the M1008 has the chain drive transfer case. M1031 is a dually. They are great trucks and all have 4.56 gears and 6.2 diesels, most of them have crazy low mileage, like 30,000+- and are rust free. The bad part is no options at all!

Thanks for the clarification. I actually started a thread in the general dicussion forum titled Army trucks. A guy selling a few of them. I didn't know what m1028 was. You guys are awesome!
The funny thing is my dad retired 23yrs Army reserves. I'm 28 so you have thought I would have known since he was in 842nd quartermaster company and transportation was his MOS.

This. Around here if you got that truck for 4500 it would need another 3000 in rust repair. I don't think the price is too bad but who pays asking price anyways?

Mike

M1028 - K30, 6.2, TH400, NP208, Dana60 w/LimitedSlip, 14ff w/4.56s Locker
M1008 - Same just no limited slip in the front

Our trucks never got the CCC q jet, the plug on the top is for a dual capacity accl pump. and it is controlled by a temp switch on the front of the intake, After the engine warms up , it reduces the acc pump shot to about half. that is all, its still just like a older qjet and electronic timing is your friend.

I thought M1028 got NP205?

msgross 01-03-2010 07:21 PM

Re: My dream truck came up for sale!

I think all of the CUCV's had NP208's... still a very tough TC...
