Newbie here with some questions

Hi all,
I am looking for some info on purchasing a 67-72 Chevy/GMC pick-up truck that is 4WD, step or fleetside, short bed, newerer motor, maybe one that was restored or overhauled a few years back (the truck).
I am looking for this to be a daily driver and not a truck that is restored to factory specs. In fact I would prefer one that has a fresher motor (HEI), a newer tranny, and whatever paint. I don't want a show-winner. I have seen them around for $5,000 and under. I would like it to have a V8, I don't care about auto or stick, and maybe some good highway gears.

I guess I am asking where to look. I have tried all the usual places but not found anything that was less than 2500 miles from me.
I am in New England. If anyone has this truck or knows where I can find or look for this truck please let me know. Reply here, use the email I have registered here, or catsdogs3@snet.net

If it were a Jeep I would know right where to look, but I haven't been a Chevy guy in a long time. Not since my 62 2WD stepside and my 78 K20 GMC pick-up. (15 years ago)

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
INKMAN

Welcome from Colorado! I'll see what I can find, since I don't currently know of any like that. If I find anything here in Colorado or through my family contacts in Nebraska, I'll drop you an email.

Thanks for the quick response.
Gordo, I think you gave me the same advise in another forum. I am going to be in Colorado for the last couple weeks that month. I would love to check it out though. I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to look online, or some good places to call to get the ball rolling. I am reading as much as I can on all these boards. I am very familiar with getting lots of info from these boards as I belong to about 50 of them between the Jeep boards, the Mini boards, the ATV boards, the kayak boards, and several others relating to other interests of mine. They have got to be the best source of information out there.

Continuing the search for my truck.

Cheers,
INKMAN

Every once in a while you can find a good deal in Hemmings Motor News... but you've found the right board for these trucks... stick around long enough and one will pop up...

I just spoke with Scott at Rustfreeclassics and he does have some really nice trucks. He is a little more expensive than most other places but it seems like he really goes through the vehicle and fixes what needs fixing and I got a good feel from him. I will continue my search, but he seems like a possible alternative. Thanks for letting me know about him.

Cheers,
