Trailing arm Idea
2 Attachment(s)
Im woundering if the suspention guys could reflect on this idea for a option to eleminate the need for a panhard bar. it would move air bags outward for better ride. a plate would be added under bag bolted to both trailingarms
Its not a four link but seems it would controll side to side movement of axel Leave your coments on your opion before I wast time building |
Re: Trailing arm Idea
if your goin throgh the trouble to build that why not just a 4 link? and whats wrong with a panhard or if you dont want side to side movement a watts link?

Re: Trailing arm Idea
The first thing I notice is the lack of leverage of the two pairs of control arms controlling the side load. Envision a triangle: Two sides approximately 5' long with a base of about 1'. It would basically be a 5' lever acting over a 1' base which I think would allow the rearend to move excessively laterally.
Like 72hotrodder said, a 4-link might be easier and the arms are usually shorter with a wider "base" for strength and better lateral stability. |
Re: Trailing arm Idea
Yea I think you'd need a fair amount more triangulation to limit side movement enough.Thinkin outside the box like that is never a waste of time though!
