Front axle wheel bearing replacement?
How do I do it? I think I have a GM 10 bolt. It's on a '71 k10. I have a strange sound coming from the left front and I think that it might be the bearing. So just so I know how, when it comes time I want to know how to do it.
Thanks |

Re: Front axle wheel bearing replacement?
10 bolt and 44 share alot. heck almost the same. The 10bolt was with out question based on the 44. I have done my 10 bolt bearins a few times and it is all the same or very close to the info in the threade link posted. You will need a hub socket and a torque wrench. Spin rotor torque to 50 back off a 1/4 turn then down to 35 and back off 3/8 of a turn . install locking ring and then locking nut which is torqued down to 50 fp. It is important to rotate the rotor while doing the inistal torque to ensure proper seating. Very easy task I would suggest a haynes or chiltens manual... it is all in there............

I don't have a service manual, wish I did though. I'll have to find one one of these days.
