Transmission Crossmember & Motor Mounts
Tyler's truck was originally a 6 cylinder with a 3 on the column. It was converted to a SB 350 and 350 Auto. The crossmember job was horrible and I'm needing to fix it. Any specific suggestions, or examples of what others have done? Is there a standard swap that works?
Also, it looks like the PO welded in some motor mounts kinda poorly, and it also looks like he used 2 left hand mounts because one of them is directly reversed from the other. Same question, is there a standard swap for this? Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: Transmission Crossmember & Motor Mounts
replacing a 3spd manual the bellhousing crossmember(near firewall) should've been removed from the frame and an automatic crossmember used that bolts to the frame and bolts to the very end of the tranny

They found some sort of cross member and butchered it up and installed it poorly. I'll remove it and install a better one. I was just wondering if there was a specific model truck that you'd pull one from, or if it's something I'm just going to have to fabricate. Still not happy with my motor mounts either. They'll work and no one will ever see them, but it just bugs me that it looks like a botched job. |
Re: Transmission Crossmember & Motor Mounts
most any 69-72truck with auto tranny will have the xmember you need or to buy a new one thats better designed that bolts right in check GMC PAUL on the vendor list
you can also check parts for sale list for both the crossmember and original motor mts for the small block |
