Restoration kits from GM?
I am planning on getting one of those restoration kits from GM but can't remember if you can just email them or if you have to call. Also what extra info do I need, VIN, RPOs? Thanks
Here you go. I called them. All you need is your VIN.
GM CUSTOMER SERVICE (Canada and the United States only) # 1-800-222-1020 GM Customer Service #s for outside the United States. EUROPE: 61 42 602 309 MEXICO: 011 525 329 0800 GM CUSTOMER SERVICE ADDRESS CHEVROLET P.O. Box 33170 Detroit, Michigan 48232-5170 |
Okay thanks man. I emailed them but if that doesn't work I'll call.
What do these restoration kits encompass?
What is the purpose of the Restoration Kit???
I haven't heard of it. |
Yeah i'm curious too. What are these kits
swervin ervin probably knows more about them but what I hear is that they are a packet full of diagrams, option lists, sales literature, it all depends on what year your truck is.
they're free, just call Chevy's customer service with your vin number.
The content of the restoratrtion kits varies slightly from year to year not only because the vehicles changed, but because of how they were documented.
These generally come in two "books". One book is usually a directory of where you can purchases repro parts or obsolete parts. The other is xerox copies of GM marketing information and dealer information used to sell these trucks when they were new. If you have purchased a new vehicle either online or at a dealership you will have seen this information before it was renamed restoration document. In the one's I have there are no construction sheets or plans. Some of the information is useful, some is interesting alot of it is useless. Good thing they are free. Takes about 8 weeks to get one from the day you call. You do have to call to place an order. Lester |
Well, as it turns out, you can email Chevy on their website and to request a kit. They will get to you within 6 to 8 weeks if you do that. I just got the confirmation email today. Just email customer service on Chevy's website.

I just ordered a kit, it was $45 Canadian. That figures, free for you guys, $45 here. The info is all about my truck too because it's VIN specific so thats kinda cool.
BTW: Canadians call 1-888-467-6853, GM Canada's early vintage/restoration department. |

Is it their 2003chevrolet.com website? |
yeah I just went on GM and onto Chevy.com then the "contact chevy" thing and emailed them off their website.
Hey MJN can you post the url in the form of a link to the chevy web site.?????? Please.
Go to www.chevrolet.com/contactus/index.html then read through all the little check lists and pick the one that fits what you want. It's pretty self explanatory. You'll get a confirmation e-mail later after you ordered the kit. Hope this helps.
I ordered mine yesterday. Just call Chevy, push 1 for English (unless you speak spanish), then press 3 - Have your VIN # ready and they'll send it to you!
MJN Thanx for the link I really appreciate it
