Suspension Questions...
I want to add disc brakes and also change bolt patterns (From 6-lug to 5-Lug). I was wondering if i could just use the spindles, rotors, and calipers from a 71-72 truck? Or do i have to change crossmembers?

you dont need to change crossmember,but will need the lower a arms,or modify steer stops on the 68 arms for turning radius. Also balljoints,& tierods,& a good chance you will need the centerlink. Best bet is to peel all the parts off one truck,& you will have everything you need,but other than a couple brackets for brake hoses,you shouldnt have any trouble with the stock crossmember. good luck........69 longhorn.

If your ball joints and stuff are good you can get Disc spindles to fit your truck from Early Classic. That way you shouldn't hve to change center links, tie rods and all that good stuff.

Dang, I am going to be doing this in a couple of weeks..(knock on wood) Everyone that I have talked to told me it is easiest just to swap out the entire crossmember...6 one way, haf a dozen the other I guess. I was thinking of having it rebuilt anyway prior to reinstalling it. Hmmmm...maybe I will wait...Seems Low69 could assist me when I get moived down there!

If the parts on the newer front end have been rebuilt or are new you could just swap out crossmembers. If they both need rebuilding then IMO it's not worth the hassle to swap--just rebuild & update the existing crossmember as needed.

Your existing outer tie rod ends won't work with the 71/72 spindles. You would need to get a 71/72 cross link, tie rod ends, and ball joints. I think your idler arm and Pitman arm will fit the 71/72 cross link. Whew! Better solution: Try Early Classic Enterpises for bolt-in 68 disc brake spindles. They hook up to your stock tie rod ends and ball joints and use 71/72 brake components.
