are 68 Chevy Fenders the same as GMC thru 67-72
 

hey i was just wondering if 68 Chevy Fenders the same as GMC thru 67-72 cause it looks like the grills fit in a more similar way compared to the 69-72 Chevy grills

Same with the exception of the '67 GMC fender not having a side marker light.
(just like a '67 chevrolet fender has no side marker light)

`68 Chevy fenders are the same as 68-72 GMC.`67 Chevy and GMCs use the same fender.

ive seen fenders on both and the 72 appear to stick out forward more around the grill area . or atleast it looked so.

I was thinking the same thing. Is it just an optical illusion? I have a gmc front clip that I never thought of using because I thought they were different.

on 67 and 68 chevys the fenders are diffierent that 69 and up because of the hood and the fitment of the grill. I'm not really sure about the gmc i would imagine that it would be different if you look at the front of 69 and up the grill fits around the fenders and 67 and 68 the grill fits between the fenders.

So what is it? 67 and 68 fenders fit different because the hood? I thought the ONLY difference is not having side marker lights?

67-68 chevy and 67-72 gmc have the same fenders

69-72 chevy have the same fenders

both chevy and gmc did not have side markers in 67

^ This is correct.
67chevy = 67 GMC (no marker light)
68 chevy = 68-72 GMC (has marker light)
69-72 chevy fenders are not the same as GMC fenders

The only difference between 67 GMC/Chevy fenders, and 68-72 GMC fenders is the marker light hole.

Where,what,why...the69-72 Chevrolet fenders only work with 69-72 Chevy/GMC hoods.Fenders and hoods are made to go with one another.The reason the 69-72 hood works on 69-72 GMC fenders is because the grille surround makes it work.The 67/68s are longer in front without the surround.

Thanks experts.....and all this explains what I thought originally, the GMC front clip I have won't work for my 69-70 chevy trucks. No wonder I never used it but hey, I can use if for 67 or 68 chevy right? I never knew that....of course it has marker lights that would need filled.

All 67/72 Chevy/GMC complete clips are totally interchangeable.

Either "complete" clips or match fenders to hood.Grilles go with like fenders.69/70 Chevy grilles are intercangable.All GMC grilles are interchangeable.

Alright, I am resurrecting an old thread to hopefully get an answer...

I know a guy who has an unrestored 67 Chevy pickup with (what APPEARS to be) 68 fenders (park lights). However he tells me it has 69 fenders on it. Is this even possible? Everything lines up?

If it has fishmouth grille-has to be 68 fenders-9's were different (on chevy)-Maybe a late bloomer in 67 and got 68 fenders?? or he "thinks" it is unrestored?? .........jim

67 and 68 have a thinner hood more slick the 69-72 hoods are much thicker

The 69 fenders wouldn't be possible without alot of work. The 68 fenders would work easily. Does it have a slope nose hood? Pics would help. I would question the unrestored part.

Yeah, he knows the fenders were changed at some point but he says they were '69 fenders. I just wanted someone to confirm my suspicions that they were actually '68. The hood and grille are definitely 67-68

Not including the side marker differences, here is the difference between 67-68 chevy, 67-72 GMC fenders and the 69-72 chevy fenders.

Now, that explains it to me best. From the looks of the photo, there is no way a 67 grille would line up with the front lip of a 69 fender. Just the answer I was looking for. I've never had a 67-68 and never paid much attention to the fender(behind the grille) on the 69-72.

Ya gotta love this forum! Sounds like my question is answered.

They could have come off a 69 GMC and still fit the same. Or he could be mistaken of the year of fender used.
