Hey Frank, It is a 72 BB short bed hard loaded. Go to www.pickupsandparts.com to get our story and look under Jason's current project to get some early pictures.

Re: Need help

I have a 72 402 core motor that still has the intake on it. It apears that the bolt heads have a raised crown. However, I don't see any letter. How clear is this to see?

Re: Need help

Paul, the 11 bolts I sent were intake with the M, not the valve cover bolts, sorry for the confusion.
Tom

Re: Need help

Ranchflyer the letter "M" or "A" or whatever it is, is pretty clear. Different assembly plants or product availability caused the use of different suppliers as long as it meet GM's specs, so different exact engines with different assembly plants or build dates could use different bolts. The main thing I need is 10 that are the same (A/C bracket and engine hoist bracket used different bolts as they we added after the intake) So I would still buy yours and would be interested in the intake or other BB parts if you want to sell them.
I really appreciate your help Paul

Richard thanks for your interest

Re: Need help

OK a little brake cleaner reveals either a Z or N on 11 of the bolts one studded bolt next to drivers side rear corner of carb. The engine sling Drivers front appears to have standard hardware. I can supply it and the front and rear engine lifting eyes as well. The AC bracket appears to have standard hardware as well It is missing the very front pass. side AC bracket/intake bolt. I can supply these bolts but not the AC bracket. If there is a date stamp I would swap the 72 bracket for another bracket as long as it works same fit and function. I am not concerned with numbers matching stuff. I do also have the sheetmetal tabs that hold a vacum line on pass. side of carb and the line that fits it. The intake could be for sale and also has the waterneck with GM # still on it. I used my stock valve covers on my engine, I believe that I used the original hardware. I am swapping cams tomarrow let me know what to look for and I will see if I can replace it with standard fastners.

Re: Need help

Hey Richard, I really appreciate you checking all this stuff. First of all where is Flint ? I would like to have all 11 intake bolts, the small tab and vacuum line, and front and rear engine slings. The original valve cover bolts are smooth on top and have the letters TR on top. Exact bolts without TR are available at Auto Zone or O'Rileys. The intake is only desirable to us "Purist" as it is not very good for performance, how much for it? Iwill check and see if aftermarket A/C to intake bracket is available, If so I would like that also.
Your help is much appreciated Paul

Re: Need help

I have the whole bracket assembly AC, alt and PS. the date stamps and all really don't make a difference to me. Much like the intake. My truck currently has a 454 from a 73 model with an intake from a 67 396. The 402 I have I removed because it was getting long in the tooth. Idol oil pressure was down to about 10 pounds. I pulled it to make sure I didn't hurt it. Plus I already had built the 454. So what all are you needing?
Intake, intake bolts, vacum line and little tabby things, lifting eyes and bolts.
I will look at the valve cover hardware when I tear into it tomarrow, I will let you know what markings it has.
I am assuming that you already have a motor. I may be willing to part with this core. I also have exhaust manifolds with the heat shield and spark plug shields, they are on the truck now but was looking to go to headers in the future.

Thanks Darrin

Re: Need help

Flint is about 10 miles south of Tyler. I looked at the valve cover hardware today, and it is not original. So what all are you interested in? Also there are some items I am in need of. Do you think we could work out a swap? I need a steering wheel for a Blue 72. I may also consider a non OE wheel if period correct. I also need a tailgate, upper bed trim, lower bed trim in wood grain wheel to bumper. Any of these in good driver condition?

Re: Need help

would this be the project your putting my old manifolds on?

Duncan and son 01-22-2010 10:25 AM

Re: Need help

Tim, thanks for asking, but yours went on a different truck. Our main project is being done very original and correct and it came with a smog pump so smog pump is going back on, which requires exhaust with holes for the tubing (which most exhaust manifolds have). I was glad to get yours because they did not have smog pump plugs and the truck they went on needed your type. Paul
