My IPOD, MP3 Player Music Idea in the Blazer
5 Attachment(s)
One of my Christmas presents my wife gave me last month was an external Sony Bluetooth speaker, "The Little Black Ball." This works easily with my IPhone. It actually sounds very good and plenty loud. I have an original AM/FM radio in my Blazer but sometimes I want to hear my IPOD music. Yes I could listen to it with earphones while driving but not very safe and what about others that ride with me. I started thinking... loud speaker in the Blazer hmmmm? So my mom sewed this little black net bag for me and I simply let it hang from the radio. It actually sounds equal/better to the stock speaker and now I have over 5,000 songs I can listen to. My wife says it looks like a "testicle" swinging and hanging down but thats another story
What do you think? |

Pretty cool! You should get two of them and hang them side by side...for stereo effect of course.

Good idea but with two "balls" hanging and swinging, my wife would really have a good laugh

How loud is it? Your radio looks like a van am/fm. Does the radio sound pretty good? I just picked up a truck am/fm and I am curious about the sound. Trevor

Re: My IPOD, MP3 Player Music Idea in the Blazer
The Sony speaker actually sounds pretty good, its been raining and cold so I have not tested it while driving, but its decent sound. Yes I do have a van AM/FM radio, I did not want to pay an extra $100-$200 more for our exact truck radio. In another thread I replaced the factory speaker with a new re-done one from a company back east. They completely re-do them and they sound good. I forget the name of the company but I wanted a stock look and went with them. If you do a search you can find them on here. Make sure you use the correct ohm speaker with our radios or you may fry it.

Thanks for getting back to me on the sound. I know the company you are talking about, and that's probably what I will do on my next rebuild with the speakers. I have a am/fm and I have all the parts for a dealer installed 8 track player, but not quite sure how it all hooks together. They might have insight on that when I send my speakers in. Trevor

Are you talking about www.turnswitch.com ? I never sent them a speaker, called them and they sent me my replacement. Nice guy and great speaker. Go to their site they explain it all if you need more info. Factory replacement.

Re: My IPOD, MP3 Player Music Idea in the Blazer
those with an iphone should really look into bluetooth stereo.. i've never seen the sony "ball" but that's a neat idea too. I replaced the stock CD player in my daily driver with a pioneer head unit with bluetooth... FREAKING AWESOME the bluetooth music is CD quality and I don't have to lug in my ipod/iphone everytime I get in. I also have hands free calling now and it mutes the music even if I don't use speaker phone...
i'll have to look into something like that for my 68, of course by then bluetooth will be out of date!! |
Re: My IPOD, MP3 Player Music Idea in the Blazer
Good idea. I've got a CD head unit with a 6-disc in the console and kept the original owner's AM/8-track in the dash. I need to see if I can integrate my iPod into the system.
