Hi all - my first post
I just purchased a chevy pickup, and as a result found my way to your discussion board. There is obviously a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm here. I noticed as well that many of you cruise ebay loooking for trucks, so you may have seen the one that I purchased a few days ago. It is a 1983 C10 - 250 6 cylinder, 4 speed, power steering and brakes. Its main plus is that it has an original 37K miles, and is very clean and original. I wavered a little about buying it, but I think that it will make a good foundation for upgrading, so I took the plunge.

welcome:)
that truck looks pretty nice. if i were you i would loose the bug shield and then loose the 6 banger:D |
Welcome to the board.
The truck looks very nice for an '83. Just look at mine. No paint. :whine: But runs a like a beast!. :bowtie: You got one very nice original truck. They are hard to comeby especially with such low miles. |
Nice truck! Welcome! :D :D

Don't listen to him. :D Welcome! |
leave up to the mini truck guy to defend the 6 banger...OH..and welcome... :D
|
Welcome!!!
I like your truck..very clean! I too would keep the 6cyl...how many guys on this board can say they have a straight six (except kaos)?? If I purchase another 73-80 it will have a built six...dare to be different. -Jeff |
does a I6 in a Jeep count?
|
Welcome. Jump right in and have some fun.
Nice truck. |
That is a sweet truck. There are a lot of nice things that come along with such a low mileage truck.
Welcome to the board! |

Theres nothing wrong with a 6. I6's count too. :D Just wait and see i've got something up my sleeve. ;) |
Welcome,
NICE looking truck ! Keep the six... Wojo 75C10, inline six:D |
Yes, Im sure that the six will have to step aside at some point - but I'll take my time with that. I don't want to be too quick to start carving up such a well preserved vehicle.
First, the bug shield will go :) as well as the big rig mud flaps. A set of 15" truck rallys will be installed. Then I will sit back and give it some thought before taking the next step. |
Your truck looks great Keep the six.
I only wish I could find a good six for mine... There is nothing like the sound of Split manifold dual exhausts with cherry Bombs on a Chevy straight six. |
Welcome to the board man, some really great folks here.
I say ditch the 6 and get a 12! :p BB |
Too bad your truck is a 1/2 ton or I would have bought your stock wheels off of you (well to tell you the truth I don't have the money for them right now anyway)
Truck looks great! |
Welcome to the board :)
I agree keep the 6cyl. Low miles on it would be a great thing to change head, cam and intake to make that thing a powerhouse. Great looking truck as well :) |
Welcome aboard!! There are definitely not many 6cyl's left around. However, they can be modified and made to get some good power out of. Here are some pics of a local guy's truck that modified his 6 and it pushes about 290hp.

Welcome to the board!
|
nice truck welcome
|
Welcome! Keep it original since it is so clean now. You can always find an inexpensive rough one for customizing.
|
I think a 6 is cool. Only because you dont see many of them. If I had one I would probly get a 350 or something, but I would like to see a really clean truck at a show with a 6 in it.
Welcome to the board. |

Great looking truck, but I agree with Ocbaud, loose the bug/stone shield.:D As far as the 6 goes, if it works for you and you don't need the extra muscle, enjoy it. I realize that my 305 doesn't have quite the jamb that many of our trucks have, but I can't complain about the 20+ mpg. So have fun. :canada: :bowtie: :flag: |
