she is sick

the truck has been running like $h!7 all day long. it feels like its about to die and is acting like there is a huge miss at certain rpms. what is wrong? its supposed to be 63 tommorow, so i'm gonna check all my front brakes and bolts to see if anything is wrong with that from my earlier problem.

i also need to get some oil, is almost to the add line(again, like every month).speaking of which its probably time to change my oil, i've got about little under 4000 miles on my mobil1. but i dont think the oil is making it run bad, it hasnt done this before.

its my carb, i know it;) i need to replace it soon! its old and has never been rebuilt

NO REBUILD!

i need a new one

Big Paul 01-27-2003 11:28 PM

Why no rebuild Eric? It'd be good as new. Unless you wanna spend $400 for a new one. :p

If it was me i'd just go get an Eddie 600...

ocbaud 01-27-2003 11:31 PM

thats the carb i would end up getting

Big Paul 01-27-2003 11:40 PM

Problem solved. :D

the truck also has problems starting up sometimes. like today at lunch, it started and then died, so i tried starting it again, and i had to leave it floored for about 30 seconds to keep it from dying. its been doing that a lot the past 3 or so weeks. my dad seems to think that its my chock sticking, but it had the same problem with my air cleaner off and me making sure it wasnt sticking before when its done it.

i'm gonna put the new quart of oil in tommorow and check my plugs. thats all i can do for now since i dont have money to do anything else.

Eric,

like your Dad, I think the choke is the problem. Have you looked at it when you first start it in the morning?

i will tommorow, what should i be looking for on the choke?

ElGracho 01-28-2003 01:00 AM

Choke would be one thing, like especially if it's never opening. Another would be a needle and seat that isn't closing all the way causing the carb to flood the engine.

Sounds like my truck, I had the same problem the other day wifes car was stuck in front of my truck and I couldn't get it to start. I think my choke isn't getting the right amount of vacuum. I pulled the plugs and some of them were fouled, so anyway I got it running and haven't got my choke fixed yet(soon I will).

your loss of power seem almost identical to mine when you start it up it runs like ****, it was my fuel filter being clogged, that may be something to check. but who knows.

ironwood 01-29-2003 04:27 AM

If that was for my benefit I have already taken off 2 of the 3 fuel filters that were on my truck when I bought it. I guess they were worried about the gas around here. Oh , by the way I have a crappy electric fuel pump(want to go to mechanical again).
